Fault phenomenon
A Honda Accord (Accord) sedan, equipped with electronically controlled fuel jet four-cylinder engine. Driving failure lights suddenly lit, the engine then turn off.
Check and repair
First confirmed the phenomenon of failure, playing the engine after the engine, the fault light is still lit, the engine then turn off. The result of the check is that the engine is in a car but is not alive. And then call the fault code, the computer decoder and the car diagnostic terminal connected. Turn on the ignition switch, read out the fault code, one is 17 (that is, flash code 4-1), which means that the camshaft sensor no signal output; the second is 18 (that is, flash code 4-2), its meaning is the crankshaft Position sensor no signal output; the third is 37 (that is, flash code 9), which means that the cylinder position recognition sensor no signal output.
The car ignition system for the engine ECU control of the distributor type electronic ignition device. Its distributor set ignition coil, ignition module and camshaft position, crankshaft position, cylinder position identification and other three sensors in one. There is a two-wire connector and an eight-wire connector outside the distributor. Two-wire connector on the line for the ignition control of the FireWire, the other line is the ECU control of the ignition module ignition trigger signal line. The eight-wire connector is the output of the three sensors and the speed signal.
Remove the two connectors between the distributor and the harness, check the low pressure fire wire and the ignition coil is normal. According to the fault code prompt, use the digital universal meter ohm file measurement of the three sensor resistance. The resistance of the camshaft position sensor is 372Ω; the crankshaft position sensor has a resistance of 377Ω; the cylinder position recognition sensor has a resistance of 375Ω; the measurement result and the maintenance data check are normal range. The demolition of the distributor from the engine, hand rotation of the central axis, with a universal table AC voltage file measurement of three sensors have AC signal output, that the three sensors are not damaged. So the initial speculation may be the line or connector has a bad contact.
After careful examination found that the eight-wire connector on the locking device has been bad, and the connector inside the terminal with oxide. Due to loose connector and the terminal has dirt, the vehicle driving vibration caused by poor contact failure, affecting the three sensor normal output signal, the engine ECU can not receive the normal signal so that the fault light is lit and the engine is easy to turn off the malfunction.
Remove the oxides from the terminals on the distributor and the wire harness and remove it with the tape. Use the computer decoder to eliminate the fault code. Turn on the ignition switch to start the engine, the engine smoothly with the car, fault lights also extinguished. The car driving for some time, then no such failure occurred.
