For some Honda cars, the brake alarm indicator light may be lit after a cold start, and after a few minutes, it will be extinguished. The models affected by this failure were Civic produced in 1996-2000, Prelude / CR-V produced in 1997-2001 and Accord Automobile produced in 1998-2002. According to Honda Motor Company, the cause of the malfunction may be that the brake master cylinder reservoir has a problem with clogging or float quality. To determine which parts to replace, follow these steps:
First check the tank liquid tank is suitable for the liquid level, and then release the parking brake. Remove the brake fluid tank cover, with your fingers to check whether the float can move freely up and down. If the float is sticky, replace the tank cover. Because the tank cover and float are a combination of the whole (part number 46662-S84-999).
If the float is free to move, re-install the tank cover to ensure that the float rises to the brake fluid position. If the float remains stationary or sinking, replace the tank cover. If it rises to the proper position, remove the tank cover and remove the top harness connector. Between the two terminals across an ohmmeter, push the float up and down by hand. When the float descends, it can be pushed continuously; when the float rises, it can not be pushed continuously. If no circuit test fails, replace the tank cover. If the experiment is successful, you need to change the part number 46666-S04-J02 improved tank filter.
